Building Fashion
Building Fashion is a series of installations that celebrate the intersection of fashion and architecture located underneath the High Line on the site of Neil M. Denari Architects’ HL23 in the Chelsea Arts District. Building Fashion is comprised of six competitions. These competitions are huge opportunities for designers and artists to realize a concept in a high profile forum.
May 15-18, 2010 International Contemporary Furniture Fair
BOFFO collaboration with Valspar Paint and Coatings company for their ICFF live action display. BOFFO curated the color story which was painted throughout the exhibition. Congratulations to Ufuk Keskin and Efecum Kutik, BOFFO studio supported designers, who were presented by the ICFF Studioo Bernhardt. Greypants, designers from the Objective Affection, from were also represented at the 2010 ICFF.
May 6-9, 2010 Housing Works: Design on a Dime Benefit
BOFFO supported artists and designers Andrew Schles, Jessica Angel, Jen Poueymirou, Faris Al-Shathir, and Gregory Sparks collaborated for the annual Design on a Dime Benefit. The designers are creating a dining room inspired by 17th century Flemish masters Vermeer and De Hooch with all the furniture made from shipping palettes and found materials; which exemplifies the concept of design on a dime.
November 2, 2009 Architizer Launch Party
Architizer, the brain child of HWKN, KREATIVEKONZEPTION*Berlin, and Ben Prosky, as well as numerous others, is a new way for architects to interact, show their work, and find clients. It is an open community created by architects for architects. One architectural project has dozens of contributors, from the intern who made the conceptual models to the construction administrator. A project on Architizer links all members of the architectural community.
October 23, 2009 Collaboration Collapse
Collaboration / Collapse is a night of performances by pairs of artists within an architectural installation by David B. Smith – a secret room constructed entirely of blank canvases within the larger exhibition Objective Affection. The artists will present works in sound, video, and conceptual performance to engage with the space and investigate themes of partnership and collaborative processes. Just as the performers will work together, they will also work with Smith by enacting his piece as a morphing screening room, theater, art gallery, and social space.

October 17, 2009 Draw-A-Thon Theater
BOFFO is hosting Michael Alan and the Draw-A-Thon Theater. For two dates in October the artist coveted events will be held in the gallery at One Brooklyn Bridge Park. The venue is within a piece presented in the Objective Affection exhibition titled ‘Changing Room’. The installation will continually evolve during the 6 week show after each performance in the space. It is a perfect chance to experience some great performance and have access to the entire gallery. October 8, 2009 Lilac Cana
We happily invite friends and family to an evening of Arias and Jazz performed by Toronto’s Lilac Caña. It is an event free to the public that will be relaxing and beautiful. Ms. Caña will be performing surrounded by the art of the exhibition ‘Objective Affection’ currently up in the gallery. We invite you to come listen to the performance and also see the art and design show.

September 19, 2009 – November 20, 2009 Objective Affection
Concerned with the influence of objects in contemporary culture, the exhibition presents a broad range of work that investigates the subject matter; sculpture, industrial design, painting, drawings, light installations, video pieces, and more. We have over 100 artists and designers represented in the gallery including Terence Koh, Caraballo-Farman, Jason Tomme, Efecum Kutuk, Tom Fruin, Josh Owen, and Erin Fetherston. The exhibition is open to the public Thursday – Sunday 11am – 7pm.
September 19, 2009 Objective Affection Opening Reception
The Opening Reception of Objective Affection was a great success! With 1200+ people in attendance the 14,000 sq. ft. space was full. The energy of the five performance pieces permeated the air with a continual sense of surprise and wonder. BOFFO’s goal of bringing artists and designers together in the name of art and creativity was fulfilled. Thank you to all who attended the event.
August 23, 2009 BOFFO Beer Beach Party
In celebration of the summer and as an excuse to get more artists and designers together, BOFFO hosted a Beach Party on the esplanade of One Brooklyn Bridge Park. Over 120 artists and designers attended the event over the 4 hour beach party. We were happy to see new connections building amongst the creative class. Our studio spaces were previewed as well as the gallery space for Objective Affection.

May 5, 2009 Waste: an Exhibition
Completed for the University of Pennsylvania. The show itself was a collection of student work completed over the course of the Spring 2009 Semester at PENNdesign. Students from the Graduate Architecture, City Planning, Fine Arts, City Planning, Historic Preservation, and Landscape Architecture Departments participated in the end of the year show. Students were asked to ReThink the work they produced over the semester with a consciousness about Waste.
April 10, 2009 Space Preview Dinner
BOFFO hosted its first event in the 14,000 sq. ft. Gallery Space. 30+ Artists, Curators, Designers, and industry specialists were invited to enjoy the space, the food and drink, and (most importantly) the company of each other. The dinner was served on appropriated construction materials being stored in the gallery. Lighting was by candle light and an over head resin coated reflector piece designed by Faris Al-Shathir measuring 8′ x 11′. The fixture held a classic series classroom chair as a nod to the upcoming Objective Affection Exhibition. A projection piece by artist Damaris Drummond played throughout the event.
